I requested an oil change appointment. It was fulfilled. When I picked my car up, the wheel was shaking and I could smell a stranger burnt / burning smell. My car has never done this since Ive owned it. Ive emailed the location and have not received a reply. I would very much like to speak with someone about this and be provided with an explanation and resolution of this issue.Virginia Tire and Auto Service

1 starWhen you think of mechanics trying to "pull the wool over your eyes", you should think of Virginia Tire and Auto. I brought my vehicle in to have 4 tires put on. Dropped it off at 10:30am per my appointment time. Watched the tech pull it around while I waited for my ride (stalled 4 times, competence isn't really their thing), so they had the car in a service bay by 10:40. Received a VM at 3:03pm telling me there was a problem. They told me my lug nuts were swollen and would require another $350 to remove and replace them (all 20). As "*****" said, it requires a socket that is .5mm as opposed to a whole size. A different size requires a $350 charge. They also tried to sell me brakes despite not being able to remove the tire and claiming they performed a "multi point inspection" again without removing a single tire. I understand that IF they were swollen, new lugs would be required but there is no extra effort in removal. A pack of 20 lugs cost less than $40. I would have accepted $100, as there is no "extraction" required or really anything other than using a 22.5 mm socket rather than a 22mm. So I stopped at ******** on the way home and purchased a pack of 20 lug nuts for $39. To no ones shock, not one nut was swollen. All 20 came off just fine with a standard 22mm socket and battery powered impact wrench. This is the definition of fraud. I will be reporting this to the attorney general as well as leaving reviews anywhere I can. This is at least borderline, if not outright criminal behavior. I have disputed the $200 they charged for the tires, and am getting identical tires elsewhere for over $500 cheaper. Stay away from these criminals if you care about your wallet or your vehicle.Review fromKAMRAN M

1 starI have used VA Tire&Auto for several years towards our 2008 ***** Tahoe. The experience has been positive until the most recent visit. The repair called for replacement of an oil pressure sensor and a filter which fits next to it. Based on trust built over the years, I failed to independently check the price of replacement parts prior to approving the service. After the service, I came to realize I was charged $254.17 for the sensor and filter. The highest price I found on the web for the original GM part was $62.99 for the sensor and filter. I fully understand the need to have a margin on the part and the need to account for warranty, but a 400% mark up is unreasonable. I I am partly responsible for failing to check the price of replacement before hand, regardless, the trust is gone. Going forward, I will find an alternative.Review fromEduardo E

1 starFirst incident: On 9/5/2023 I took my Maserati Levante for the first time there instead of going to the dealer (big mistake), for a tire rotation. They returned it with a big gash/scratch on the rim. I have pictures. New Rim would at least cost you $500. I complained to the incompetent people working there and nothing happened. I also completed a complaint form on their website and no one responded. VA tire and Auto hires those new young mechanics (call them mechanics) with no experience, incompetent with no customer service talent and they will ruin your expensive car or any car.
Second incident: On 1/22/24 I took my Jeep for a safety inspection and tire rotation (with an appointment). I arrived there at 11:30 based on the appointment. Waited for an hour before it went in for a safety inspection. What is the use of having and appointment if I still have to wait an hour. I took off from work to do that. After inspection, they moved my car to the end of the line waiting for all these cars that came after me. I would had spent my whole day at that place waiting for a safety inspection. I complained to this incompetent manger "Chris" who didn't want to give me his last name to complain about him. He told me "if you don't like it here, you are welcome not to come back". I have 9 cars in my family and a lot of friends with cars. I will never go back to these people and will never recommend them to anyone.
This complaint is to alert people to stay away from this chain. They will charge you a lot money compared to a regular mechanic. At least the regular private mechanic cares about his business and returning customers.
"VA tire and Auto", no need to respond, because nothing will change my opinion about you with your two cents response. Customers be ware.
No wonder why they have a 1.82 rating out of 5 on BBB.
I left a star because the system doesn't accept zero stars.
I also had to be brief to accept the the 2000 characters limit. Stay awayReview fromOlga S

1 starWe called and made an appointment and specifically asked if we can car service and state inspection in the same visit, and were told yes. When we came for our appointment, they said inspector is not there that day. They did not even apologize and were very rude during our entire visit.Review fromKamran K

1 starThe complaint is about the false advertising on the Virginia tire and auto website, it clearly states that wheel alignment for all European cars is for $179.99 and most domestic cars $119.99. I was charged the higher price and I have a domestic car. VA tire and auto needs to be more clear on their advertised price and create trust and honestly with their customers. We should expect better from our repair shops and maintain honestly and integrity.Review fromDay T

Came to VA Tire and Auto for a vehicle safety inspection for a relatively new car that I barely drive. The mechanics at Vienna said I needed to replace my control arm in order to fix my steering and quoted me nearly $900. Thank god for my BF who took it to another auto shop to have it check out and all they had to do was tighten the ball joint for $60 and sent me on my way. I would think good business owners would check out all possible options before suggesting someone pay that much to replace parts on a newer vehicle.Virginia Tire and Auto Service

Switched to Va tire and auto from a different company for multiple reasons. Thought Va tire and Auto would be better and different and at first they were. Over the last few months with them I started having issues with their "service". I do not believe they performed work on my vehicle like they said they did because now the issue has returned and two different shops have told me it's an issue Va tire and auto supposedly fixed, which is supposed to be warrantied 24k miles or 2 years, whichever occurs first. I find it interesting how the issue they supposedly fixed is not only reoccurring, but they also "found" over $2k in new issues. Why weren't these "issues" found a few months ago? Thought I could trust Va tire and auto but I cannot anymore. I will not be returning to them again. Especially since they will not honor their "warranty" and they magically find new issues to be able to make more money.
I may not be a mechanic, but I am also not stupid and will not be duped out of thousands of dollars simply because they found "new" issues.
Great job, Va tire and auto, you have lost a valued customer because your greed got in the way!Virginia Tire and Auto Service

PLEASE READ: . We had our back brakes changed by them and they continued to squeak. We brought them back a month later to be looked at and they couldn't find ANYTHING wrong. Nothing at all. The squeaking continued on for a few more months so we decided to take it back AGAIN. This time they said that our back brakes, that they installed, were fine but the front brakes, that were just replaced by someone else in March of this year, needed $1600 worth of work. They didn't see anything wrong the first time we had them recheck the squeaking but now, all of a sudden, it was so bad that it was going to cost $1600 worth of repairs (i.e. brake hose, calipers and front brakes need to be changed). They told us that it was so bad that the car might need to be towed when said we were going to take it for a 2nd opinion. Convenient right? It was so bad it may need to be towed? They tried a scare tactic so we didn't take it to another shop to be looked at. Well It didn't work. We took it anyway and glad we did.
At the 2nd location, NOT another VIRGINIA Auto and TIRE, we did not tell them anything about what just happened but asked that they look at the brakes because they were squeaking. They looked everything over and said the brakes looked fine except for the back brakes that weren't aligned correctly and that is probably what was causing the squeaking. We asked them about the front brakes and even had them double check the brake hose and calipers because now we told them what Virginia Tire & Auto told us. So they double checked it and said everything was fine. If they were bad, why wouldn't this shop want to make money and make the repairs?? Because there was nothing wrong. That's why. Virginia Tire & Auto didn't expect us to take it for a 2nd opinion and now we found out the truth.
You are going to take your car there for something simple - safety inspection, oil change, tire rotation and THEY ARE GOING TO FIND a problem and want to charge you a lot. Go for a 2nd opinion.Virginia Tire and Auto Service
